It's gotten under way and Thursday will be a notable day in the buildup, with lots of talks demonstrating the diverse scholarship about him. It's all part of the building 'Twain-a-mania' in Westwood, as the Bruins celebrate the witty, plain-spoken scribe from Missouri whose pen name may have come either from a sounding cry by navigators on the Mississippi River or perhaps from a scrawled bar tab? For fans of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, who, of course, never managed to make it to the Southland in his global sojourns but made plenty merry in Baghdad by the Bay, swampy Sacramento and other northern California spots, the literary feast will include a marathon reading of his short stories, a major discussion of the commercialization of Huck Finn and a display, already on, of a huge collection of his memorabilia (see video).
