Ever wondered why it is, exactly, than when Mother Nature lashes an area with the most violent circumstances possible, it always seems as if mobile home parks are disaster magnets? And why is it, exactly, that folks who live in trailer parks never seem to get out of the way of catastrophes, such as occurred in a recent Southern California wild fire? Well, it's the national weather service that has the latest study on human responses to severe condition warnings. And the bottom line from a scrutiny of reactions to warnings and alerts issued on Feb. 5-6, 2008, when some of the worst twisters struck mid-America, seems to be this: Many folks don't have a good way to get accurate information about the severity of an oncoming calamity; they don't have a means to get out of the way, nor a safe place to shelter. And, yes, they can't assess the warnings they get to figure whether they're fodder from Chicken Little or the Four Horsemen.
