On the one hand, his world explodes with new possibilities of support for contemporary and modern art -- workshops, grants, schools, festivals, exhibits, journals and public and private collectors. On the other hand, there's a history in his part of the world of creating art just to satisfy monied visitors and tourists. And, then, of course, wars rage and his peers and colleagues have offered up their own visions and theories to make their work fit a greater context. So how does an Arab artist respond to this all?
